"A new baby is like the beginning of all things - wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities. - Eda J Leshan"

Are you pregnant with your first child?

Have you just brought your precious infant home ?

Are you baffled by your new baby?

Welcome to the club, parents. :-)

Now that you're holding this sweet bundle of love in your arms, you're probably  wondering how on earth you'll be able to protect this fragile creature you already love more than life itself from all of said life's harm.

You won't be able to.

This is one of the toughest realizations parents will come to. Relax. That little, helpless baby who is completely dependent on you will grow up and be able to take care of him/herself one day soon.

And no matter how hard you try to save him/her from life's bruises, your baby will  pick him/herself up, dust off and carry on. This will be because you, as baby's parent, taught baby the life skills to handle those tougher moments and you will have instilled healthy self-esteem in your child from the day s/he was born. Your baby is human, baby will live life and grow as a human being just as you did.

This site will help you understand many of the things you will need to know to help your baby grow strong in mind, spirit and body. You will find resources, advice and information on every aspect of parenting a newborn to toddler. When your child is out of the baby stage, Rexanne.com will still be here, with advice and resources to get you through the rest of childhood. :-)

Each stage of a baby's life is precious as you will come to find, from baby's first breath, the first smile, the first step, the first everything. That's what the first two years are all about. A series of rapid firsts that will leave you breathless, amazed and even more in love than you are now. Can you imagine loving that baby even more? Seems impossible but it will happen to you just as it has happened to all of us.

There will be days when you will want to tear your hair out from sheer frustration, exhaustion and helplessness. It will subside and the next day will be better, or not. You will cope because you have to. Your baby needs you to be firing on all cylinders, parents. Whether you want to or not. ;-)

And you will have days when everything your baby does fills you with joy, pride and bliss. Relish those special moments with your baby. Baby will sense your love and respond.

And you will have lost your old life. Say goodbye, mourn it, remember it fondly and move on. It's never coming back. :-)

I firmly believe that education is the foundation of positive parenting. There are many resources available to parents today and the amount of educational materials and information on parenting grows daily. The Internet has proven to be one of our most valuable tools in gaining the knowledge we need to make better choices for our children. We can find support and encouragement through family web sites, parenting forums and connect with our distant relatives for good ol' home-spun advice via email.

One other very important belief I have is that loving your child is the most important aspect of parenting. Discipline, guidance, food and shelter are all important. But love is more important. Always strive to love your baby unconditionally and please do not hold your child accountable for any expectations you may have. Our children are born as individuals with likes, dislikes, desires and dreams of their own. Allow them their personal freedom and respect them enough to love them no matter what they do or accomplish or don't. If they know they are lovable beings, they will act loving toward others. This is the most precious gift you can give your child and, in turn, the world.

You're more than likely wondering how you're going to cope with bathing, feeding, diapering and helping your baby sleep through the night. I'm sure you have your own specific trepidations and anxieties about how you will deal with your newborn and whether or not you'll be a good parent. I think you will do just fine. :-)

Parenting is as personal as there are individuals in this world. You will make mistakes, you will question yourself and your sanity. You will do just fine! Love, nurture and protect your baby and the rest will sort itself out.

Ready to find out all about that sweet little baby?

This site will help you wade through the myriad details and milestones of becoming a parent for the first or the tenth time. We can all use a little reassurance and education, whether we're first time or already seasoned parents. From the page, 'Bringing Baby Home' to the 'Siblings' page, my wish is that you find comfort, resources and information that will make your life with baby easier, happier and even more exciting than you can imagine.

Below is a map that will guide you through the pages of this site. Bookmark this page now before you get lost. ;-) And be sure to join us on Rexanne's Community Forum for advice, fun and a generally all-around great place for parents (new and seasoned) to hang out.
