I'm a lucky lady ... I have one of the greatest dads around. My father is
compassionate, loving and kind. He adores all children and animals. He tries to see the
good in everyone and goes out of his way to rescue struggling flies from drowning in his
swimming pool. My daughters love their "Grandpa Frank" dearly, as does
everyone who knows him. (With the possible exception of my mother but that's a
complicated story and you don't want to hear it ... LOL!)
My daughters have a great daddy, too. We call him the other mom. He never
missed a
ballet recital, a trike-a-thon at our little ones pre-school or a chance to sit
with his daughters and build
a killer doll house with building blocks. He loves his girls without question.
Even
though he sometimes doesn't understand them, (he's a guy!) they are secure in the
knowledge of his unwavering support and unconditional love. He will worry himself sick
when our kids are feverish and always welcomed their trembling little bodies into bed
at 2 a.m. if they had a nightmare.
Know this, guys ... we really do need you. When you take the car in for an oil change,
when that spider is just a little too hairy and you bravely go after it for us ... we
appreciate you down to our pretty pink toenails. Your guy stuff might be a little
rough around the edges for us sometimes but we wouldn't want you any other way.
Bless all you dads out there!
