Rexanne's Halloween Dinner for Kids
Getting kids to eat a well-balanced
meal before they hit the streets for trick or treating can be a challenge. Our
home seems to be the yearly hang for Halloween which makes me happy. I
love the excitement and fun and our neighborhood has 3 full blocks of
wonderfully decorated houses with great neighbors who go all out for Halloween.
I also love knowing the kids have eaten a good, healthy meal before consuming
massive amounts of sugar.
Here's what I serve for Halloween dinner every year. All kids love this meal and
look forward to it:
- Chicken Cutlets
- Mashed
Potatoes
- Fresh veggie platter (cut up raw veggies:
bell peppers
in all colors except green, baby carrots, sliced Jicama, celery sticks, black
olives, etc.)
- Milk or sparkling cider (no soda allowed)
- Dessert is the candy they collect in the neighborhood. No reason to add to the
sweet feast. If you're intent on serving dessert or have older kids who won't be partaking
in ritual trick or treating, serving a
Kitty Litter
Cake is a classic and good for a lot of giggles. :-)
I serve dinner on fun
Halloween plates and have various sized pumpkins in the middle of the table
as a Halloween centerpiece which makes everything more fun and festive!
