Welcome all newcomers and faithful readers!
Happy New Year! Hard to comprehend that another year has come and gone but we've
all made it thorough another year and can look forward to a fantastic new one.
Let's plan on making it one of the best years yet, for our families, for our
children and for ourselves. I want all parents to take more time for themselves
this year. Read more about this in the parenting and family topic of the month.
:-)
And for those of you who want a head start on Valentine's Day, these are the

Thanks Gene! I'm assuming it stood out in a positive way. ;-)

shadows of their parents and what they believe and what they do are often what

Parenting & Family Topic of the Month: Parents, Take Time
for Yourselves
We all need to chill out, relax, have fun and generally do things that make us
feel good and feel more connected to the world outside our immediate families.
Being a mom or dad is certainly rewarding and a significant accomplishment,
however, we need to take time for ourselves to recharge the batteries so we can
continue to be the best parents we can be and to ensure we're happy, fulfilled
individuals.
Couples need a break from their kids every now and then and Whether one or both
parents are also working at a career, there is the added stress of trying to
make a living. Go to a movie, out to dinner or dancing. Whatever you both enjoy
doing together. Stay in touch with the man/woman you fell in love with, not just
the other parent of your children. A healthy union is one of the greatest gifts
and learning experiences you can give your kids. Teaching them that Mom and Dad
have needs and desires, too, is important for children to see an example of a
healthy, working relationship. And having parents who are content and relaxed is
an obvious benefit.
Single parents need to put themselves first sometimes, too, maybe even more so
than parents with partners.
Remember that you, too are important. Nurture yourself and/or each other and
offer yourself or each other some of that cherishing we lavish on our children.
The whole family will benefit and the world will be a better place. :-)
