Welcome all newcomers and faithful readers!
How's everyone's year going so far? Anything exciting in your lives to report?
We'd love to share your joys and triumphs so let us know! We are also here for
those more difficult life challenges. Maybe a fellow reader has a fix or can
offer good advice. Many of you have been readers for the full 9 years I've been
bringing you this newsletter. Consider us family. :-)
I had a wonderful trip to Denver last month where I celebrated my Liberty's
birthday. The weather was gorgeous the entire week. Came home to a very rainy
Los Angeles which was a rude shock.
The upcoming holiday is St. Patrick's Day. This is a fun one, for kids and
adults. Make sure you and your little ones are wearing something green on March
17 to avoid the dreaded pinches. Find green wearables and accessories on this
page: St. Patrick's Day
Attire
And please remind your children to pinch lightly, if at all, and without the
intention to hurt.
Find all manner of St. Patrick's Day goodies on this section of Rexanne.com:
St. Patrick's Day
Easter is coming up next month on April 12. Prepare now to make life easier
then: Rexanne's Easter
And for my readers who like to be ahead of the game for celebrations, feast on
my graduation section to help you through this milestone that's oh so important
for our kids no matter what grade they're graduating from:
All About Graduations
It's never too early to plan for a special graduation!

"I just read your article about school over-placement and had one of those
"aha moments." My son has been struggling in school for 4 years and I'm now
pretty sure it's because we put him in school too early. His birthday is in
November and we rushed him into kindergarten before he turned 5. I won't be
making the same mistake with our baby, who will turn 5 on October 9th."
School over placement is an important issue. I'm so happy you were able to glean
some insight from my article, Corinne! For those who missed it, I'm
re-publishing it in today's newsletter as the parenting topic of the month.

Parenting & Family Topic of the Month:
School
Over-placement
This article was published on one of my ancient AOL pages and I know many of my
new readers missed it. I think it's an important enough issue to bring it up
again and maybe help parents who are struggling to understand their child's
school traumas that might stem from having started school too early:
At times, children are placed in kindergarten before they are ready, setting
them up for 12 years of trauma that is easily avoided by holding them back a
year if they are obviously struggling with basic principles of education at
their current grade level. Some kids are sent to kindergarten before they are
old enough or mature enough to deal effectively in a structured atmosphere.

Tip or Trick of the Month: Save on Heating Energy
A simple way to save on your heating bill is to keep your vents clean so they
won't have to work as hard to heat your home. Vacuum heating vents at least once
every 2 months to keep dust and grime from collecting and making your furnace
work harder.
