Welcome all newcomers and faithful readers!
Hope you're all enjoying springtime! I know my readers in cold country look
forward to the warmer weather. Enjoy and soak up that sunshine! A little sun
every day keeps you healthy as it provides necessary vitamin D. We've been
taught to fear the sun when, in reality, it's vital to our well being. In
moderation, of course.
We had a wonderful Easter celebration at our home. Lots of good food, great
company and good times. Easter always seems to be one of our most fun
celebration days every year. Although I follow more of a Buddhist philosophy, I
do celebrate Jesus on Easter and encourage my kids to honor him. Now that
my children are older, the Easter Bunny hooplah is pretty much a memory. I still
give them Easter baskets filled with things I know they will love. It's fun and
there's always room for more fun in our families. :-)
We're now coming to the holiday that honors mothers! YAY us! Mother's Day is May
10 this year. For all your Mother's Day needs, visit:
Rexanne's Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all you terrific moms! You deserve accolades and pampering
on Mother's Day so eat it up and enjoy!
And Teacher Appreciation is this month, too! Our teachers deserve as many
accolades as we can give them. To help you with this occasion, visit our site of
the month or for a quick check: Teacher Appreciation

what every kid wants."
Thanks Joe! I think they're lucky, too. :-)

"Do you honestly believe that by not spanking your kids, you're doing them a
favor?"
Uhmmm ... actually, yes, I do, Dorothy, the favor of respect and human dignity.
*sigh* The controversy never ends with this subject but I welcome all
communication about spanking or any other parenting topic my readers would like
to discuss or just rant about.
While we had an entire thread dedicated to this issue on our forum, the forum is
now down for good. No one was posting other than me and a few other souls so I
let it die, much as I thought it would be a great place for us all to
communicate. I am looking into starting a blog, where you all can leave
comments, reply to a post and ask questions but don't have to register. Maybe
that'll help get you all talking and interacting. :-)
In all honesty, creating Rexanne's forum and not having anyone interact felt
like throwing a party where no one showed up. Disheartening, to be sure but I'm
resilient and will bounce back with another ball - be ready. :-)

Parenting & Family Topic of the Month:
Grooming an Anxious
Pet
I thought it would be fun to dedicate this month's topic to our pets,
considering they are like children to us, too. :-) When I read this article by
Happy Tails Spa , I had revelations and found
solutions to some of our biggest challenges with both our dog and cats. Read on
for good advice:
Whether it’s trimming nails or trying to bathe a dog, if you’re a dog groomer
then you probably see anxious dogs on a daily basis and if you have an anxious
dog then you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about! No matter how experienced
you are, how good at your job, and how much effort you put into keeping a dog
calm, there are some dogs that simply don’t like to be groomed. Maybe they’ve
had a bad experience. Or perhaps the sound of clippers makes them nervous. It
could be a lot of things. Fortunately, there are some easy ways to help calm
nervous dogs.

Chocolate
Dipped & Decorated Strawberries
Instead of sending or making my little one (not so little anymore at 15!) an
Easter basket this year, I sent her a box of chocolate dipped and decorated
strawberries since she is in Denver now. She raved about how delicious they were
after getting past not wanting to eat them because they were "too cute to eat!"
It was the perfect Easter present to send and the very best company to send
chocolate covered berries from is CC Berries, where they only use real chocolate
(most other places use fake chocolate - Eeeeeeeeewww!). Their dipped
strawberries are adorably decorated for any holiday or celebration and their
packaging is perfect. CC Berries Mother's Day berries are gorgeous and will make
your mom smile big! This is a good alternative gift or in addition to flowers.
These chocolate covered berries also would be the perfect dessert to serve for
your Mother's Day meal. I'll be ordering a dozen to serve as dessert at our
Mother's Day table!

Ahhhh - the bliss of having a cleaning crew or individual coming to your home to
clean and scrub - this is a new online service where you can bid for a cleaning
service and find the perfect housekeeper or cleaning crew. A cleaning person or
crew for a day would make an exceptional Mother's Day gift, too. Give Mom a day

Time Waster of the Month:
Scrabble on Pogo
(Because life is supposed to be fun!)
If you love to play Scrabble, this one's for you. You can play against human
opponents or play against the pogo robots to learn without the pressure of
another human watching you struggle with the letters. LOL - i discovered this
game last month and have been addicted ever since. *sigh* A really good time
waster but it'll keep your brain sharp and engaged. Good for keeping bats out of
the belfry. LOL
Feed the kids first ...

Featured Site of the Month:
Teacher Appreciation
While this isn't technically its own site, I wanted to draw attention to teachers this month because it's not only Mother's Day month but also Teacher Appreciation week and day in the USA. Not sure about the rest of the world. Does anyone know if this day of observation is the same time of year elsewhere?
On this page, you will find lots of teacher goodies, from tributes, gifts and
gift suggestions, teacher graphics, teacher sites and lots more including a good
amount of links to other teacher and teacher appreciation sites.
