Linda wrote about last week's topic, infant circumcision:
"I read in the Bible that male children were to be circumcised on the eighth day. Later, I read in a medical journal that vitamin K (which is vital for blood clotting) is never higher in ones' entire life, than when a baby is eight days old. If parents opt to circumcise their sons, it would probably be a good idea to have it done on the eighth day. Perhaps that may also be a time when the pain would be lessened. But since the baby cannot tell us how much it is hurting, I think some anesthesia would be a very humane addition."

"Thank you! My husband and I are in the process of starting our family. We both feel so strongly not to circumcise our male children. I have felt for many years that the act of brutally hurting an infant is unforgivable. I have been getting nothing but grief from my family. My husband's family supports us completely. My husband was not circumcised (that was not a common practice in 1975). My mother-in-law had to fight with the doctors not to do the procedure. My husband has informed me that he was never teased nor was it ever a source of embarrassment for him. I am very thankful that in today's society I will be able to express my wishes to my doctor and they will be honored. Again thank you for speaking out against such a cruel and needless procedure. I have enjoyed reading your newsletters. Even though I have no children of my own, I feel as though I have learned a lot."

"I do have two boys. My father had begged me to please have any boys circumcised. He had to have a circumcision done at the age of eight because of an infection. My father told me it becomes more painful the older the boy gets.
How many boys want their parents cleaning their private areas? My eight-year-old son is resisting me washing his hair let alone anything else. Can you be positive that your son is cleaning himself well? I took my father's advice and am glad that I did. I have no regrets. Yes, my sons did cry for about 30 seconds when it was done and both were content in less than a minute. I also had my daughters' ears pierced right after birth. They reacted the same way ... cried for about 30 seconds and were content in less than a minute."

Tip or Trick of the Week:
Romance Tips
We had some great reader's tips come in these past two weeks, however, we'll save them for the next issue. In this issue, I wanted to bring you tips on keeping romance alive in your life. Romance isn't just for husband/wife or significant other. Romance can bring joy to your whole family and circle of friends. These are a few wonderful ideas on romance from TheRomantic.com:
1) Buy a favorite childhood game. Turn off the TV, play the game and relive happy, childhood memories.
2) Read poetry aloud to your special person.
3) Bring home a flowering orchid plant for your sweetheart. Some can bloom up to six months.
4) Change the tags on Hershey's Kisses with ones of your own.
5) Place a little bit of money in your beloved's pocket (or kid's backpack!) with a note that says: have a treat on me.
6) Make a bowl of alphabet soup for your dearest, with a special phrase spelled out.
7) Remind your sweetheart to take their vitamins every day so you will have them around for a long, long time.
8) Have your darling's favorite music playing when they come home from work. Or school ... if you can stand it! ;-)
9) Turn off the alarm and wake your spouse (or child) with a back rub instead.
10) Get up a little early one winter morning to scrape your sweetheart's windshield. Leave a little frost or snow in the shape of a heart.
11) Give a gift on your birthday, instead of expecting a gift.
12) Send your sweetheart a Valentine when it's not February 14 to show that you don't need a holiday to be romantic.
Have a tip or trick your fellow readers would enjoy or could use? Please send it here for possible publication in one of the next issues: Tips

Weekly Time Waster: Final
Days
Because life is supposed to be fun!
Here's the ultimate time waster ... well, it was for President Clinton! This is a first, believe me. Yes, our former pres actually made this mini movie about his final days in the White House. It's hilarious! Follow former president Clinton as he roams the empty halls of his adopted home, looking for something to do on his last days in office. See him run after Hillary's limo with a forgotten lunch sack. LOL!
Really, no matter what you feel about Clinton, this is a must see. Brings a whole different perspective to the presidency and a personal touch not likely to be replicated.
Feed the kids first ... better yet ... let them watch it with you!
