Welcome All Newcomers!
My younger daughter turns eight today. Wow ... pretty soon I'll have another teenager in the house! ;-) Actually, I think teens have a bad
rap. They're fun, smart and just beginning to discover the world doesn't revolve around only them. Gotta love their spirit and laughter. Meanwhile,
we're having nine eight-year-old girls for a sleep-over tomorrow night. I know,
I know ... I'm insane. :-)
Next month will mark the two-year anniversary of Rexanne's Web Review. Wow ... I'm impressed! ;-) You've all been an integral part of this
newsletter, especially my faithful readers who have been subscribers
from the very first issue. Stay tuned for special announcements and my own articles on vaccinations,
Fluoride and other controversy. Should be another interesting year! :-)
Valentine's Day is in two weeks. Oh for the love of ... someone! :-) For everything you'll need to help you through the holiday, here's a
link to my Valentine's Day site: Rexanne's
Valentine.
There's still time to buy Valentine gifts online. Do check out the
Gift, Flowers and Candy page for some great ideas and super Internet merchants.
I've moved all VDAY pages to my own domain to fix the AOL problem of not loading. The new pages are fast and
wonderful! Please pass on this new link.
I love you all. Happy Valentine's Day!

"Thank you for the article by Michael Grose about children being reflections of their parents. We should all take a good look at our
kids, their good and bad qualities and pay attention. It's coming from us."
Yep, you are correct, Darien. If your child is having problems, try looking in the mirror or try loving them more. They need love from us
more than anything. Works like a charm. :-)

"I came across this great site (MagnetQueen) that is not only good for
V. Day but for any holiday or occasion. I had my son draw a Christmas card, sent it to them and they printed cards which I sent out for the
holidays."
Thanks, Sue. This is a terrific place! Check out MagnetQueen
today.

Thanks to Kathy who sent this super link. It's free:
NASA will be launching a new Rover to Mars. Click
here to add your child's name to the name disk that will be included on the craft. They will collect millions of names, which will remain on the
planet for some future generation or other civilization to someday find. You will be able to print a frameable certificate with their
name and assigned number.

Pam, who sent information and a link to her Metastatic Retinoblastoma page in last month's newsletter, shares this great news:
"We have a number for the bill ... 1117. The bill requires the eye dilation test for newborns before they leave the hospital, the 6 to 8
week baby exam, the 6 to 9 month baby exam and the use of the ophthalmoscope at every exam throughout childhood. These three eye
exams in the first year of life should detect 99.9 percent of all treatable eye diseases before they can blind or kill our children."
Please visit Joey's page for vital information on
detection and prevention of this disease.

This Month's Web Review is Sponsored By: Prima
Flowers
Prima Flowers sends flowers world-wide for all occasions. Guaranteed fresh, beautiful bouquets or plants and the most spectacular
arrangements to grace a home or business.
Place Valentine orders now for the perfect Valentine arrival time. Orders must be placed at least 48 hours prior to holiday delivery
dates.
This is the only online florist I use. I've tried most of them and have been very disappointed in the quality of flowers and size of
the arrangements, not to mention service. Prima Flowers is, IMHO,
great for all of the above! They always deliver fresh, beautiful arrangements and their customer service is the absolute best.
International delivery is a huge plus, too!

Parenting & Family Topic of the Month: Love in
the Home
Did you ever feel more in love than when you held your baby in your arms? I know I didn't. I didn't know what love was until I had my
children. Doesn't say much for the men in my life! ;-)
The following verse was sent to me via email. I have yet to find whom the author of this excellent advice is, but I think the meaning speaks
volumes about the true meaning of love:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love in the Home
If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in its place but have not love, I am a housekeeper, not a homemaker.
If I have time for waxing, polishing, and decorative achievements but have not love, my children learn cleanliness, not godliness.
Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laugh. Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window.
Love wipes away the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk. Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys.
Love is present through the trials. Love reprimands, reproves, and is responsive. Love crawls with the baby, walks with the toddler, runs
with the child, then stands aside to let the youth walk into adulthood.
Love is the key that opens salvation's message to a child's heart.
Before I became a mother I took glory in my house of perfection. Now I glory in God's perfection of my child. As a mother, there is much I
must teach my child, but the greatest of all is love.
Food & Cooking Site of the Month: Chicken
Valentino & Fruit Rolls
This month, Martha sent two terrific recipes to share. They're classic Martha-Easy and perfect ways to say I love you via the taste buds!
From our Food & Cooking Editor, Martha Jones, AKA Queen Can-ivore.
~~~~~~~~
Chicken Valentino
The beauty of this recipe is that it will wait while you enjoy candles and wine or whatever distraction may come along ...
Submerge boneless, skinless chicken breasts in your favorite spaghetti sauce to bake for a minimum of 45 minutes at 350. Check, when the pink
is all gone, they're basically done - just waiting to be topped with a
few slices of Provolone cheese right before serving. Turn to low, or proceed. Only takes a few minutes for the cheese to bubble and brown.
Serve with garlic bread (you'll both be eating it so relax), salad and a side of pasta - the perfect V-day dinner.
~~~~~~~~
And one for the kids:
Fruit Rolls
4 Soft Taco size Flour Tortillas
2 bananas, thinly sliced
1/4 cup raisins
2 Tbsp. honey
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup chopped peanuts or other nuts (optional)
Combine fruit, honey and cinnamon in a bowl. Spread each tortilla with 1 tablespoon peanut butter, leaving a 1-inch border. Spoon fruit
filling down the center of each tortilla. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired. Fold in 2
sides of tortilla to meet in center, then roll up, bottom to top. Place seam side down. Halve each tortilla on a sharp
diagonal
Tip or Trick of the Month: Romantic Tips
These are recycled from last year's newsletter, however, I couldn't find any tips more appropriate or
perfect for this issue. Romantic gestures are a great way to express your love. Remember, you can add a touch of
romance to your children's lives, too!
1) Buy a favorite childhood game. Turn off the TV, play the game and relive happy, childhood memories.
2) Read poetry aloud to your special person.
3) Bring home a flowering orchid plant for your sweetheart. Some can bloom up to six months.
4) Change the tags on Hershey's Kisses with ones of your own.
5) Place a little bit of money in your beloved's pocket (or kid's backpack!) with a note that says "have a treat on me."
6) Make a bowl of alphabet soup for your dearest, with a special phrase spelled out.
7) Remind your sweetheart to take their vitamins every day so you will have them around for a long, long time.
8) Have your darling's favorite music playing when they come home from work. (Or school ... if you can stand it! ;-))
9) Turn off the alarm and wake your spouse (or child) with a back rub instead.
10) Get up a little early one winter morning to scrape your sweetheart's windshield. Leave a little frost or snow in the shape of
a heart.
11) Give a gift on your birthday, instead of expecting a gift.
12) Send your sweetheart a Valentine when it's not February 14 to show that you don't need a holiday to be romantic.
