WELCOME ALL NEWCOMERS!
Thank you to all readers who wrote me this week. I love knowing you're really out there. ;-)
Reader Sharon shared a very cute story about her Easter Sunday:
" ... celebrated my granddaughter's first birthday, purchased and watched 'Stuart Little' (I LOVE that movie! Our cat 'Thumbs' looks just like Snow Bell) and then, of course, Easter. Baskets for the 3 granddaughters, egg hunts in which the adults had to find the last 4 eggs cause we couldn't remember where we hid them and the kids didn't find them...LOL! At least they were plastic ones so if we missed some we won't find them by the smell in July ... HA!"
LOL Sharon! I end up finding the old eggs hidden too well by Mr. Easter Bunny, too. Months later, the treat inside is pretty miserable but it's like finding buried treasure, huh? ;-)
Oh! Stop by my Mother's Day site for e-cards, graphics, gifts, flowers, food and cooking ideas and tons of links: Rexanne's Mother's Day

Parenting & Family Link(s) of the Week:
Ever think about spending more time with your kids but figure the feeling will pass? LOL! Don't feel too bad ... I go through this tug-of-war every day with myself. There's always so much to do, so many things to handle. My kids see me more than most moms but without a lot of the quality you'd expect from a mom who works from home. They see me looking directly at them so rarely, it's a wonder they don't ask for ID when I try to enforce the rules!
All the best intentions in the world are not going to make time with our kids just happen. We have to make the effort and reap the rewards. Yes, we all love our children deeply and they know this. But for them to feel LOVABLE, they need to know they are worth spending time with. My suggestion would be to do things with your kids you both enjoy. This will ensure a positive encounter and some super memories!
Here's a great article from Parenting Perspective about spending time with our kids. Some excellent advice and reasons why it is so important for our kids to really feel our interest in them: Time is Love

Food & Cooking Site of the Week:
"FoodFit.com provides personalized tools to make good food and active living easy and enjoyable."
OK, we're going for healthy this week! ;-) Well, at least at FoodFit.com, there are plenty of recipes that are not only healthy, they're amazingly appetizing and not hard to make. There's a data base for recipes that are easily customizable to every diet, be it for better nutrition or a specific health issue. Each one offers in-depth nutritional analysis so you'll understand exactly what you're feeding the family and why.
I especially like the seasonal tips pages. Each season produces particular foods for a reason, ya know. I suppose nature knows what's what, huh? If you're so inclined, there's also a terrific fitness section that will get you motivated if you need a fitness routine that works for you.
FoodFit.com is a well-researched and well-planned food & cooking site, sure to stay around for the long haul.
Bon Apetit!

Kid's Site of the Week:
Alphabet Soup is dedicated to providing a safe and entertaining site for children on the Internet. They do a great job of it! From dinosaurs to zany zoo animals, Alphabet Soup guarantees hours of Internet fun and happy education for the kids. There are coloring pages; humor pages to get those little guts gigglin'; terrific holiday pages with arts, crafts, e-cards and activities; links to other good children's sites and a super parent/teacher resource page.
Alphabet Soup also boasts recipe pages with fast, simple fare the kids could make if they're ambitious ... (yeah, right! LOL!) and so much more. I have been recommending this site for more than a year and have watched it grow and get better and better. Another bonus is the incredible ease of navigation ... this is one site I never get lost in!
Donna, you done real good! :-)

Tip or Trick of the Week:
Reader Kitty wrote that last week's tip brought to mind another helpful use for peanut butter:
"Another 'tip' to use peanut butter for is when a kid gets bubble gum stuck somewhere on clothing or in hair. It's supposed to work! I've always used an ice cube to 'freeze' the sticky stuff and then it breaks off easily. It worked wonders for gum in the hair (no need to grab the scissors and swear!)."
Thanks Kitty!

Weekly Time Waster:
(Because life is supposed to be fun!)
Java Hangman is a slick version of the old game. Not as fancy as Wheel of Fortune but it's yours to play around with all day if you get so involved! This version of online Hangman has a cute little bear who "gets it" if you aren't astute enough to figure out the word puzzle in less than five tries. Yikes! Hung that little sucker more than once! LOL! This is a fun little diversion. The kids will like it, too. Java Hangman is a great way to teach them some word skills without the trauma of education. ;-)
Have fun ... feed the kids first.

Featured Home Page of the Week:
Gee, I sure hope this doesn't open ME up to a rasher of email debaters! If you have a problem with the opinions on this page, please write to the site creator, OK? ;-)
Our reader Lisa has poured her heart and soul into it. This is not about agreeing with her views or not ... it's about her feelings and heart-wrenching agony over the events of the past week with concerning Elian Gonzolez.
I, personally, never watch the news. Stopped about a year ago, the day after the Littleton, Colorado shootings at Columbine High School. That particular incident took me out of the game for a good three weeks. I promised myself I would never watch the nightly news again and I've kept that promise. Guess what? The world didn't stop having catastrophes but I'm much happier.
I understand too well how a news event can capture the hearts of many, creating true feelings and emotions that need to be expressed. Lisa has expressed herself beautifully on this page. Thank you for having the courage to express your views, Lisa! :-)
