Welcome All! It's Dads and Grads month with many opportunities to show our love this month to some of our most special
people. Gotta love Dads for sharing "their" month with our great Grads. And gotta love those Grads for making it through a challenging four
years of high school or college. Please also honor your child who has graduated Middle or Elementary school. They deserve accolades, too. One
of these days, I'll have to create a site just for Grads. I do have an "everything you'll need" Father's Day site for you to surf here:
Rexanne's Father's Day
The hot months are here and I just read a horrifying statistic: Infant and child deaths due to being left in closed cars are UP by 28 percent.
This is insane. We've been hearing about the danger of leaving babies and children left unattended in locked cars for years. Hasn't this
information reached every parent on the planet yet? Please never leave your baby or child alone in a closed car. The inside of a car can
become a furnace within five minutes on a hot day. This same warning goes for pets, too. I don't care how inconvenient it is to
un-strap
baby from the car seat and possibly wake him/her. Just do it and know you are doing the only thing that's right in the situation. And if you
see another parent about to leave a baby or small child alone in a locked car, you have my permission to become a "busy body" and beg them
not to do it. If you see a baby or child locked in a closed car on a hot day, call 911 or the police immediately. Same goes if you see a dog
or cat in a similar situation. Thanks. :-)
I am about to take a much needed vacation from publishing for July and August. Rexanne's Web Review will not be published again until
September 1, 2004. Have a great summer everyone! See you in September. I'll miss writing to you all. I will be checking email so keep sending
feedback and mail, please. :-)

New reader Donna graciously wrote:
"I just subscribed to your newsletter and have been reading the archived versions that I missed. This is good stuff. Thanks for all the
ideas, tips and information you keep on your site for us new subscribers to find! I am looking forward to a monthly dose of
you!"
Thanks you for your kind words, Donna. I hope to keep you entertained and offer consistent
good information through the next year, at least.

And dear Rexanna (nice name!) wrote about being a grandma:
"I have to tell you, being a grandma is just about the greatest thing in the world. I just turned 50 in March, which was quite a head
banging experience - but being a grandma, girl that is such an easy thing. I always kinda feel like when God let's us have grandkids, He
is saying 'Hey, you didn't do such a bad job raising those hellions of yours, Let's take it another generation.' My granddaughter is
absolutely the light of my life - and I'm so proud of my daughter for being such a good Mom to her. They make me feel good about life. SO
when your turn comes, take it as the best gift you could receive..."
I don't have the pleasure of grandkids yet. I DO understand about the head banging experience" of turning 50, however.
Geesh, I still act like I'm 16 much to the dismay and embarrassment of my 15 year-old
daughter. ;-) I am not ready for middle age but who has a choice?. Arghhhhhhhh! Thus, the hot flash tips in the Tips and Tricks section
this month. ;-) Enjoy that grandbaby!

Parenting & Family Topic of the Month: The Importance of Hobbies
By Rexanne Mancini
Consider that children who have an avid hobby or interest they are passionate about are more likely to spend their money, when they have
their own stash of it, on that hobby or collection and not on drugs or other potentially harmful choices.
If your kids are busy after school at dance class, soccer practice, rock collecting or any other hobby or interest they find engaging, they
won't have time to hang with the kids who have nothing better to do than experiment with drugs, gangs, alcohol or whatever else could get
them into serious trouble. If your kids are intense about collecting paper clips, toe nail clippings or in love with little league, then
encourage them ... help them develop their passion for a positive accomplishment. Teach them how great it can be to involve themselves in
something that gives them a sense of accomplishment and pride.
Help them through the rough spots when they can't get a dance step the first 10 tries by letting them know that, usually, nothing worthwhile
comes easily. If their favorite collectable breaks, drag yourself through hell and back to find a replacement. This shows them you
believe in their humble collection and you understand its value and importance in their life. They will learn to respect their unique
passion and move forward into adulthood feeling good about the healthy choices they make to keep themselves occupied in their 'down' time.
This type of positive reinforcement will also encourage them to spend their free time doing something other than hanging out with other bored
individuals who are bound to try some type of inane activity just for the thrill of it.
You might even decide to get involved in 'collecting' or 'creating' yourself. Having a mutual hobby could create a bond worth its weight in
super glue with your child.

While you're in the mood to buy books, pick up a copy of Dr. Laura's new and truly helpful book,
The Proper Care & Feeding of Husbands.
Sometimes I love Dr. Laura and sometimes I feel just the opposite but she does give great advice and has a lot of insight into what makes
relationships work. Read this book for the father of your children who is hopefully your husband. It would make a perfect indirect Father's
Day present or a great bridal shower gift. :-)

--- Tip or Trick of the Month: Hot Flash Relief & How to Clean a BarBQ
Is anyone else suffering from hot flashes? Oh boy. I have newfound respect for those two little words that can wreak major havoc in the
lives of so many women. Trying to function while that inner furnace is malfunctioning and running on overtime is nearly impossible. I did find
something that helps! If you haven't already discovered the joys of a portable mini battery-operated fan, here is the miracle product you
absolutely cannot live without and at a price everyone can afford: Portable
Mini Fan
You will thank me! I thank the person (my ex-hubby - LOL!) who gave me one daily. ;-)
For preventative maintenance, here's a very good article on easing into the menopause years, how to avoid the discomforts associated with
them and how to maintain a diet rich in foods that will ease you through this time. I am not endorsing the product on this site, just
offering a look at the article that I found helpful: Hot
Flash remedies

Barbecue

--- Featured Site of the Month: Eternal Web Spots
This is one of the great Internet ideas, where you can create an everlasting spot on the WWW to honor anyone you wish. I created an
"Eternal Memorial" for my dear Uncle Gino who I miss more each day and it was not only cathartic but very fun to create. You can choose
from hundreds of decorative graphics and background music or upload your own pictures for whatever web spot you decide to create and
decorate (an eternal memorial, eternal birthday card, eternal holiday card, eternal pet shrine, etc.) Your creation will live on the Web
forever. You can send the web spot address to whomever you like to share your creation. This is very easy, fun and a perfect way to honor
that special someone, for whatever occasion. Eternal Web Spots
